The personal statement is an integral part of the graduate application, and I am happy to give you my professional feedback and guidance. I have been accepted for graduate study at Stanford, Penn, Columbia and Harvard (where I ultimately received my Ed.M.), so I am very familiar with the genre and format.
We will be collaborating over Google Docs. If you are unfamiliar with Google's collaboration tools, you may want to peruse the video below.
Here is how it all works:
1. Once you purchase time, you can schedule a session on my public calendar. I will approve the session and you will receive a confirmation email.
2. At the appointed time, we will hold a video chat (you will need a webcam, microphone, and headphones). We can conduct our initial session over the phone, but I really enjoy seeing who I am talking to.
3. I will create a Google Doc and share it with you. This will be our unique collaboration space for the duration of our time together. Google Docs allow for us to each work on the same document in real time: I can see your cursor; you can see mine, and I can leave comments and ideas for you. You will leave each session with a checklist of things to work on for next time.
4. Rinse.
5. Repeat.
6. Once we have finished, you can download your finalized Google Doc as a Word document or PDF and upload it to your application.
